Compartments in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI)

The compartments in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) divide the resources into logical groups that help you organize and control access to your resources.

A compartment is one of the security controls in the OCI that protects OCI resources (Compute, DB, VCN, etc.) from unauthorized users.

The access of compartments is controlled by policies.

Every resource in OCI is part of one compartment. OCI allows creating of sub-compartments up to six levels deep.

The below picture shows the pictorial representation of compartments.
