Understanding of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure is a complete cloud infrastructure platform for all workloads. OCI offers a high-performance compute and storage capacity in a flexible overlay virtual network which you can securely access from on-prem NW also.

Below picture shows the complete set of services offered by Oracle Cloud infrastructure:

OCI Global Cloud Data Center

Oracle offers more than 80 cloud infrastructure and platform services. Most regions also offer a Cloud Application (SaaS) portfolio.

Across Applications and Infrastructure, with public and hybrid cloud options, Oracle supports local access, regional compliance, and true business continuity.

About Region, AD & FD

Region: A region is a localized geographic area. Regions are independent of other regions and can be separated by vast distances—across countries or even continents

Availability Domain (AD0: An availability domain is one or more data centers located within a region. A region is composed of one or more availability domains. Few regions contain three availability domains and a few other regions contain a single availability domain.

Fault Domain (FD): A fault domain is a grouping of hardware and infrastructure within an availability domain. Each availability domain contains three fault domains.

The below diagram represents the relationship between Region, AD, and FD.
